We are pioneering sustainable arid & semi-arid farming for 10 million smallholder farmers across East Africa

We achieve this in two main ways:

1. Iviani Farm is a Center of Excellence for farmer training and a demonstration site for climate-smart technologies

Farmer Training on Commercial Smallholder Farming Practices

We provide hands-on education in sustainable farming techniques, effective business management, and industry best practices to empower smallholder farmers. Our focus is on helping them improve the quality and quantity of their produce, leading to increased yields and greater overall sustainability in their farming practices.

ASAL Aquaculture Farmer Training

Iviani Farm's ASAL Aquaculture Academy is dedicated to training a new generation of fish farmers. Through hands-on learning and expert-led courses, the academy equips individuals with the skills to thrive in aquaculture, with a special focus on sustainable practices in arid and semi-arid regions, transforming local communities through innovation and growth.

Demonstration Site for Climate-Smart Technologies

We work with partners to conduct R&D, test, showcase, and encourage widescale adoption of innovative solutions that enable farmers to adapt to climate change, conserve resources, and enhance resilience in their agricultural practices.

2. This is complemented by direct partnerships with farmers to improve their income & nutrition

On-farm Fruit and vegetable Value Addition

Iviani Farm value addition factory is located within smallholder farms and is supported by a mobile unit, the Factory on Wheels. The company purchases fresh fruits and leafy vegetables (e.g., mangoes, bananas, pineapples, leafy vegetables, etc.)  from local farmers at a premium and processes them into dried crips, extending their shelf life from just a few days (4-7 days) to more than 24 months.

As such, Iviani Farm provides a guaranteed and accessible market to >5,000 smallholder farmers, purchases their fresh produce at a premium price, and creates decent jobs for the local community. This reduces the time and distance between harvest and processing, effectively tackling post-harvest losses at the source.

Sustainable ASAL Aquaculture Farming

Iviani Farm operates an accredited fish hatchery, producing high-quality tilapia and catfish fingerlings to support farmers in establishing productive fish farms. By prioritizing quality, we help meet the region’s growing demand for sustainable fish stocks.

We also offer consultancy services to promote sustainable fish farming in Africa’s arid and semi-arid regions. Our expert guidance equips farmers with innovative solutions to maximize yields in challenging environments, driving both food security and economic growth.
